custom sign work

Typography, vintage neon, old motel signs, 50's hand lettering; these have all been a big passion of mine since I was a young kid. To my amazement, in 1989 when I graduated high school, BCIT had a 3 month course on Sign Painting. I thought, "Perfect". Looking back, it was unbelievable a course like this still existed. I signed along the dotted line with dreams of my own business painting boat lettering in the Bahamas and beyond, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. It was around the same time that computer generated, vinyl cut lettering started to appear and the brush and tin of One Shot disappeared. Fortunately, hand lettering has made a big comeback over the past decade which has been a welcome sight. I’ve been lucky that I’ve been able to paint and construct signs for people and businesses over the past 10 years through Vancouver Reclaimed. Here is a selection of some of that work.
